Zusatzinformationen:Ab dem 13. Jahrhundert diente der Ort Coswig mehrfach als Residenz- und Witwensitz. Ab 1670 ließ sich die Fürstinwitwe Sophia Augusta von Anhalt-Zerbst (1630-1680), eine geborene Prinzessin von Holstein-Gottorp, anstelle des alten Schlosses in Coswig ein neues Schlossgebäude errichten, das 1677 fertiggestellt und bis 1827 als Witwensitz genutzt wurde. Zum Wittumsamt Coswig gehörten Güter in Coswig, Polenzko und Bärenthoren.
